DOKKEN Plans September Release For 'Lightning Strikes Again'
April 12, 2007DOKKEN mainman/namesake Don Dokken has issued the following update:
"The boys and I are currently in the studio working on [the new DOKKEN album] 'Lightning Strikes Again' and it should be out sometime in September. We will be playing various festivals this summer and we all hope you will make it to one of our shows in your area. I will post our tour dates as soon as they are confirmed.
"For those of you that have picked up our '1981 Live' CD, I hope you like it. I think it's pretty cool and very punchy sounding considering it was recorded a zillion years ago. Also our 'Unchain the Night' video is now out on DVD with three bonus videos as well as Mick [Brown, drums] and I doing commentary. Our commentary is pretty funny to watch. Mick was really on a roll that day. We will be going on tour in Europe in September and I will be posting those dates soon. I've been seeing a few blogs on the Internet lately that I got married, and although I do live with my girlfriend, neither one of us are fans of traditional marriage. So stop congratulating me!
"I hope to see you this summer out there at the shows. It should be a fun summer. See you soon!"
A 15-minute audio interview with Don Dokken, conducted recently by Norway's Metal Express Radio (web site),has been posted online at this location.
DOKKEN's new album, "Lightning Strikes Again", will be released via Rhino Records in the U.S. and Frontiers Records in Europe. The follow-up to 2004's "Hell to Pay" will feature the lineup of Don Dokken (vocals),Jon Levin (guitar, ex-WARLOCK),Barry Sparks (bass, TED NUGENT, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, MSG) and Mick Brown (drums).
"It will be a very heavy progressive record," Dokken recently told Deb Rao of KNAC.COM. "Just some cool songs, some dark songs, and some medium tempo. Some of the best work that I have done in years. I am not looking for any kind of sound. I am just writing whatever spiritual inspiration comes to me. You could say the sound is very heavy, like 'Kiss of Death'."
